It is a requirement that staff undertaking this course will have completed AWARENESS OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT or Refresher within last 3 years

Aim

To increase knowledge of safeguarding children roles and responsibilities in relation to fabricated and induced illness (FII)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session the participants will:

  • Understand what is meant by FII and ways in which children present symptoms to health professionals and others
  • Understand the impact of FII on children and young people
  • Understand the motivation and beliefs that underpin FII
  • Be aware of the way in which FII could present in their work setting
  • Know how to respond to suspected cases of FII
