Welcome
Welcome to the East Riding Safeguarding Children Board (ERSCB) website. The ERSCB is a statutory multi agency organisation which has been set up as part of the Every Child Matters reforms. It brings together agencies who work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in the East Riding and requires that all organisations cooperate to keep children safe from harm. Underpinning the formation of the ERSCB is the principle that safeguarding is everyone's issue and we aim to ensure that information, education and training is available for professionals, parents & carers, members of local communities and children and young people themselves for all to achieve this aim. With this aim, our promise to you and the children and young people of the East Riding is that we will coordinate and ensure value for the purpose of safeguarding by:
Leading collaboration and cooperation across all agencies in the community
Developing and setting policies and procedures
Monitoring and auditing their implementation
Ensuring appropriate training is available
Promoting awareness and action in the wider community
Conducting Serious Case Reviews when a child dies or is seriously harmed and abuse or neglect is suspected
So that: Children and young people are safe from neglect, maltreatment, violence and sexual abuse;
Children and young people are safe from discrimination and bullying in schools, their community and in the cyber world;
Children and young people are safe from becoming victims of crime or involved in criminal or anti-social behaviour; Children and young people are safe from accidental injury, road traffic accidents or death;
Children and young people are able to enjoy and achieve because they have security, stability and care;
Parents, carers and families are able to provide safe homes, stable environments and consistent care.
This site provides information for professionals, parents/carers and children and young people on the work of the Board and on safeguarding in general.
