The East Riding Safeguarding Children Board (ERSCB)  training is targeted at the following practitioner groups from voluntary, statutory and independent agencies:

  • Those in regular contact with children and young people and adults who are parent/s or carers.
  • Those who work regularly with children and young people and with adults who are carers and may be asked to contribute to assessments of children in need.
  • Those with a particular responsibility for safeguarding children, such as designated or named health and education professionals, police, social workers and other professionals undertaking Section 47 enquiries or working with complex cases.
  • Operational managers at all levels, within organisations employing staff to work with children and families, or responsibility for commissioning or delivering services.
  • Those who have a strategic and managerial responsibility for commissioning and delivering services for children and families.

Foundation Level - Training is for all those in regular contact with children and young people and with adults who are parent/s or carers.

Level 1 - Training is for all those in regular contact with children and young people and with adults who are parent/s or carers.

It is recommended that every effort is made by individuals to attend all available Level 1 courses. By doing so they can expect to have the following objectives met:

  • Have a common understanding of key terms, definitions, and thresholds for action;
  • Have a clear understanding of what to do when they have concerns about a child's welfare;
  • Be able to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people who may be particularly vulunerable;
  • Know how to work as part of a multi agency or multi disciplinary team when following the processes set out in the ERSCB guidance and procedures.
  • Be clear of their roles and responsibilities during assessment, planning, intervention and reviewing processes for children in need, including those requiring safeguarding;
  • Understand the statutory requirements governing consent, confidentiality and information sharing and how to apply these in relation to a particular child about whom they have concerns.

Level 2 and 3 - Training is targeted primarily at those who work regularly with children and young people or have particular responsibility for safeguarding children or are operational managers providing services.

The Board reserves the right to levy a charge to profit making organisations.

Charging Policy and Cancellation Fee

You are able to download the Charging Policy by clicking on the right hand side of this page.

Failure to inform the Board of a cancellation at least 24 hours before the course date or non attendance without a valid reason will result in a charge of  £30.

Course Allocation

Because of the inter agency nature of ERSCB courses, the Board will try to get an optimum mix of professionals or volunteers from a number of different organisations on each course.  Therefore places are not necessarily always allocated on a first come first served basis.
